Fleshing Out Ezekiel's Prophecy
Now, let's look more closely at  the actual
physical process of  restoration as detailed
in Ezekiel 37, verses 6, 8, and 10.
So I prophesied as he
commanded me, and the
breath came into them,
and they lived, and stood
up upon their feet,
an
exceeding great army.
I believe God is giving us a sneak preview of the
composition and physical resurrection of the
glorified body promised to all of the saints of the
ages.  Note that vital organs and blood are not
mentioned as a component of this resurrected
body, only bones, sinews, (tendons/connective
tissue) flesh, (muscle tissue, cartilage), and skin.
Only one thing more is needed to animate the
bodies, and this is the
pneuma -- breath of God,
the Holy Ghost.  Notice that even before the
restoration process begins, the bones are able to
"hear" the word of the Lord.
We stop now to search scripture for a corollary or something to substantiate this event and find it in the incident of the resurrected
Jesus' appearing suddenly to his disciples...Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not

flesh and bones
, as ye see me have...Luke 24:39

Jesus was also able to consume food..."he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?   And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and
of an honeycomb.
And he took it, and did eat before them. Luke 24:42-73

So we are able to ascertain at least three things from Ezekiel's prophetic description and  the example of Jesus' resurrected body:
It is composed of only flesh and bones
It is animated and sustained by the Spirit of God
It can consume food/drink
If we dig a little further in scripture we can determine one other important fact about this resurrected body:
It cannot die
This can be substantiated by the following two scriptures:
"I am he that liveth, and was dead; and behold I am alive for evermore."
(Jesus)--Revelation 1:18
But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is --
I John 2
So, from Ezekiel's vision of dry bones we have a picture of the glorified, resurrected body which will be given to those who have
separated themselves to live for and serve God down through the ages.  This is the spiritual , incorruptible body which bears the image
of the heavenly.
It has no blood, because flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God.  It does, however, have
incorruptible flesh and bone, and is animated and sustained by the Spirit of God, not air breathed into lungs.

It is raised in glory, power, and incorruption!
Did you recognize this description of the resurrected saints  from I Corinthians 15?  Reading further into verses 51-52, we see that this change
from earthly, corruptible body to glorified, spiritual body  occurs "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye (1/100th of a second), at the last trump.
I believe what we have been privileged to see through the eyes of the prophet Ezekiel is a

                                           depiction of this same event.
Remember, unlike us, God is outside of space and time and can either compress or expand events.  The timing of the
restoration of the bones with the gathering in to one Shepherd-King in the land promised to Abraham's seed coincides
with the resurrection at the Last Day.

Again he said unto
me, Prophesy upon
these bones, and
say unto them, O ye
dry bones,
hear the
word of the LORD.
And I will lay sinews upon you,
and will bring up flesh upon
you, and cover you with skin,
and put breath in you, and ye
shall live; and ye shall know
that I am the LORD.
And when I beheld, lo, the
sinews and the flesh
came up upon them, and
the skin covered them
above: but there was no
breath in them.
